Ah Spring. How you tease me. It’s 33 degrees in Chicago today. THIRTY THREE. It’s basically winter. which is insane, seeing as it was 65 a just a week and a half ago in Massachusetts. I wish it would go back to that….

Anyways, I still wanted to wear one of the new spring dresses that I bought at the mall the other day, so I just winterized it with some tights and a sweater. You’ve seen everything except for the dress and headband before. The dress is from Wet Seal, which you guys should check out  because they have some really good deals on both spring dresses and all their clearance stuff from winter. The headband is from Clair’s, where they’re buy one get one half off right now.

Here you go! Don’t forget, you can click on the pictures to see a closer image.

I really like the way this turned out, but I can’t wait to wear this dress by itself when it gets warm enough!

Like it? Let me know what you think in the comments, and don’t forget to check out my formspring account.

Okay… so I really like this outfit! I was really excited about it when I put it together yesterday morning. And then I walked into my kitchen and my dad goes, “Dodi, that outfit doesn’t work at all!” and I stared at him like he was on drugs. Because this outfit totally works! He went, “The top and skirt are fine, but purple? With black and white?” What colors am I supposed to wear with purple?! I just don’t understand at all. I think I snapped at him a little, just because I like this outfit so much, haha. You guys let me know what you think.

(don’t forget you can click on the pictures to see a bigger version of them)

Since I’m home on spring break, I’m missing my photographer. But the amazing lighting I get in my room practically makes up for it!!!

I went shopping with two of my good friends at the mall. (first time I’ve been to a legit mall in months! Damn Williams…) I spent wayyy too much money on some spring trendy stuff, which will be debuted shortly. But I almost bought the pants version of these:

CLICK!

except that they were dark grey with pink flowers. It was a little much in the end, and one of my friends said they looked like PJ pants, which totally turned me off… But now I’m kind of liking this shorts version, haha. Too bad I already spent too much money.

Lastly, I lost my big glasses, and they’re not being sold at urban anymore, which is pretty devastating. On the plus side, I think I found new different ones on urban for only ten bucks, so I’m debating getting those.

What do you guys think of the shorts? And also, it was totally silly of my dad to hate the  purple, right? Please, please comment. Also, check me out on formspring!

Later Darlings!

Alright. Here we go.

So, I’ve been doing a lot of… ditty writing (?) lately. They’re not really poems, not really song lyrics. Just little bits and pieces that pop in my head as I’m walking to class, or walking home crying from a bad night… You may ask why all of these seem to be about relationships, and that’s because I’ve had a lot of emotions about that stuff this year. It may seem silly, but I’m someone that gets easily attached. I’m sure I’ll look back at this post in a year and laugh about how upset I got about things. But I really wanted to let these out of their little box and show them to whoever is willing to look.

I’m slipping between the cracks

I’m somewhere between the lines

I’m starting to fall in love with you

maybe I’m wasting my time.

I’m so dizzy that I can’t see

Hands on my neck, you tell me breath

I was never good at hiding my heart

Never good at holding back

You tell me to take it slow

but I just don’t know how

It’s not that I don’t understand; I know the reason why

It’s just that every time I look at you, it makes me want to cry

Steady baby, don’t fall apart,

all I need right now is heart

And I’m trying to hard

but it hurts so damn bad.

I know how you feel

and it just makes me sad.

I would stay up all night

just to listen to you

smile at me

Did you hear the smile in my voice when I said goodbye?

I was trying to be happy, because I didn’t want to cry.

Which means I’m on spring break! Woot woot!

I’m so excited to be finally done with midterms and just get to relax. Ahhh, so nice. Let’s celebrate with some pictures, shall we?

As you can see, this is from when I was a bit stressed over midterms. But no matter. The weather was BEAUTIFUL last week, and now I’m in Chicago and it’s snowing. sigh. It’s supposed to warm up so that’s good. I don’t know if you can tell, but I painted all of my nails this very simple taupe color that almost looked like khaki but pinker, and then the pointed finger I painted a very pretty, warm pink. I’m really liking it, even if it is chipping..

That’s all I’ll post right now, hope you guys are all doing well. I’d really appreciate some comments, they give me inspiration and help me stay motivated on here.

Luv ya darlings!

Dodi

P.S. don’t forget to ask me questions on formspring: http://www.formspring.me/dressdarling

But doesn’t everyone?! It’s a sad day when I don’t have time to think up an adorable outfit to go with today’s amazing weather. High of 58! Are you kidding me?! Alas, I have to write a Philosophy paper and kill myself over Computer Science and study for Democracy in America and come up with a paper topic for Religious Life in Southeast Asia. Why can’t college just be going to class, writing an occasional paper, working for the newspaper, and a social life? Were that the case I would have so much more time for community service….

Mais non. I can get through this. I love college. I love MY college. I just hate this week. It’s worsened by the fact that I am still having this thing with Cultural Theory, and I won’t be spending much time with him this week which is super frustrating.

But back to fashion. I have a wet seal gift card from my birthday, and I cannot decide what to buy. There are some cute looking dresses on their website, but Wet Seal often has iffy quality and I don’t want to risk it. It’s not like Urban Outfitters, where you can read people’s reviews of it. I wish every online clothing store did that. Fortunately I’m going home on Saturday (WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!) and will be hitting up the mall like a maniac.

Lastly, this whole formspring thing has been fairly interesting. A few of my real life friends have gotten their hands on it and are asking me silly questions, but other than that it’s been a lot of really deep and interesting questions. So I’ll throw some at you:

What got you interested in fashion? If you’re not, what are you interested in (and why are you reading my blog)?

What’s your favorite spring trend?

Are you in college? High school? In a career? If so, what is it?

What do you think about when you don’t have to think?

Please respond, I really love to hear from you. And keep the questions coming at formspring. They’re a lovely distraction from my massive amounts of work, haha.

Love ya, Darlings

I got formspring, so don’t hesitate to go over there and ask me questions! Whether you need outfit advice, want to know something about me, need any other kind of advice. Whatever!

I have a lot of sequin clothes… there was that sequin dress that I wore in new york, the scarf with sequins on it that I wore that night I was a 1920’s Chicago flapper. And now… sequin leggings. This is good stuff, man.

Alright, I have a TON of pictures for you guys, I hope you really enjoy them.

The first outfit was my birthday outfit, the second was from my dad’s girlfriend. The third is focused on this awesome skirt I got at a thrift store, which I loveeee. The last is my sequin leggings!!! It’s a going out to party outfit, so I’m all jazzed up with my very trendy clothes. Grey suede boots: check. Sequins: check. Showing bandeau bra: check. Lace-back top: check. It’s allll there, lol.

Lastly is an outfit that’s pretty typical for me-I love the skirt thigh high combination. The sweater is a new addition however; my friend’s aunt let us go though some stuff she was giving away and this little treasure was in there! I love the way it lays-loose but flattering. Mmm, love.

Anyway, there’s a new boy. Let’s call him Cultural Theory.

Cultural Theory and I had a class together last semester, but we didn’t hang out really. He’s a sophomore and super cute. Haha. The past two or three weekends he’s found me at parties (okay so it’s not like I was hiding from him or anything) and danced with me. I liked that he didn’t immediately try to grind up on me or anything; we would just talk and dance kind of face to face not touching. It was sweet but also made me think that he didn’t like me “like that” or something. Which shows what low expectations I have of boys these days. On Saturday we were texting and I told him I didn’t want to go out to a party. So he asked if I wanted to go to snack bar (yay honeybuns and ice cream!) and watch a movie.

Almost like a real date, right?!! So exciting for me; seeing as I’m just used to guys drunkenly trying to feel me up at parties. Ew.

So I said yes, and we ended up back in his room watching Adventureland. Afterwords we talked for what seemed like an eternity, and then he kissed me. Yay! I spent that night, and the next in his room. He hasn’t asked me over since, which makes me question what’s going on… I hope he really likes me. We have been texting, and we’re supposed to go to dinner any minute.

I hope this works out and doesn’t turn into a weekend thing. What do you guys think? Been in similar situations?

Also, do you like the acid wash chambray? I don’t think it’s too too 80’s. Right?

Hit me up, Darlings!

Tuesday was my birthday, and I had such a good time! My friends did wonderful things for me (joined me for dinner, sang to me, lovely presents). It’s so strange to be 19… I feel like 18 flew by. 19 is such a sad age: you’re almost done being a teenager, it’s not really an exciting age nothing special comes with it. Kind of a let down after the oh-so-exciting 18. Nevertheless, I had a good time.

Even more exciting is that my dad surprised me this past weekend by flying out to visit me. I had no idea he was coming!! I had been missing him a lot lately, so it was really really nice to see him. His girlfriend came too, and she’s so sweet and lovely. We went to the (awful) mall by my college so that my dad could get me a birthday present; the only store really worth while there is New York and Company, so that’s where we ended up. I got a very classic grey and purple argyle front cardigan, as well as an acid wash chambray tunic. I usually hate acid wash, but this tunic is unbelievably cute. I wore it on my birthday, and lots of compliments were given. I’ll have pictures of that soon. (my photographer hasn’t emailed them to me yet, ahaha)

Presents from the rest of my family should be slowly coming through the mail over the next week or so, which means I’ll have a good amount of new clothing to show off soon.

What do you guys usually ask for around birthday time? I always ask for clothes; shocking I know!

Can’t wait to hear from you, darlings!

Alright kiddies. Today’s post comes in two parts. Part one is the Olypmic Gala formal that we had at my school, and what I wore!

Part two is a little bit into my observations about trends for this Spring. I’ve been seeing some trends forming and thought I would jump in with some ideas.

PART ONE: THE OLYMPIC GALA!

So first of all, I had the Gala the other night. It was so much fun getting to dress up and go out with my friends. It was a refreshing change from party clothes and such. While I usually go for a vintage vibe when it comes to formal wear, I decided to change it up this time around. My dad’s girlfriend had given me this dress over the summer and this was my first time ever wearing it. I was a little nervous about it but I think it turned out all right. I wanted my outfit to suit the event, which was very classy. We had (fake) gambling table where people got to play with pretend money. There was a mocktail (virgin cocktail) bar, and also a dance floor with a DJ. Before the show were went to an A Cappella concert, which was a blast. Here it is!

The dress is from Bebe. Do you guys like it? What is your favorite style of evening wear?

PART TWO: SPRING STYLE!

Alright, so Spring is awesome for fashion. It has the largest collection of things that I personally love about fashion: light layers, lace, floral prints, girly pieces, pale or faded colors. Overall, Spring just has a romantic, vintage feel about it that I love.

So lets start with light layers; I think that Spring is the perfect time to break out those brightly colored tights that you’ve been nervous about wearing. As you guys have seen, I really like tights and don’t shy away from the good stuff (bright pink, anyone?) but if you don’t have poppy ones, and color will do. And on those warm days, lets break out those bare legs! Being able to walk outside bare-legged might just be my favorite part of late Spring. Just don’t do it too soon or people will wonder if you’ve lost your mind.

Next, lace. I think lace is so wonderful and girly…so long as you don’t overdue it. Lace accents are best, not all over lace. Unless it is a lace dress (I want one so bad!!!!) But if you do opt for a lace dress, make sure it is short, and not overwhelming. You don’t want to look like  a grandmother.

FLORALS!!! Floral prints are wonderful, in any size, shape, color, WHATEVER. Just do it, you’ll look fab.

Girly pieces: Spring is the perfect time you you to break out the delicate necklaces, pearl earrings, flowers in your hair, so on and so forth. These touches really enhance a look.

Well, that’s all I’ve got. Hope you guys like this, and let me know what you think about my comments on trends.  Would you rather I talked about trends more, or my life? A combination of both? Pictures with examples? Suggestions are loved.

Uggg. Let’s not talk about it.

In any case, I want to show you guys the stuff I wore in New York!!! It was such an amazing trip and I had a lot of fun. I had never been to n NYC before, it I was pretty excited for it. I was over dressed a lot of the time, but I felt like that was something you can get away with there!

We did pretty much every touristy thing you could possibly think of, as well as hanging out at Columbia. Anyway, here’s the outfits!

They’re from all over the place and I’m lazy… if you want to know where they’re from, ask.

In case you were curious, things did not work out with Mr Popular because he made no effort. He says there was “no spark” but really he just wants to hook up and move on. I’m not quite over it yet, but I’ll get there. Relationships are hard.

I went to a formal last night and got to wear a pretty dress!! Yay!!! Pictures of that tomorrow!!

Anyway, where have you guys gone that’s been the most exciting? For me it was Jamaica, then this NYC trip.

Good night, Darlings!
